Company Notifications: Route Spotto Updates

Overview

Company notification subscriptions route selected Spotto events to a team destination. Each subscription combines a name, one delivery channel, and one or more event types.

These subscriptions are company-wide destinations. They are separate from the personal notification preferences under your own Settings and from destinations configured on individual Cost Alerts.

Where to find them

In the Spotto Portal, open Settings -> Notifications for the selected company.

You need company-notification manage access to add, edit, or remove a subscription. With view-only access, the controls are unavailable.

Supported channels

ChannelRequired destination
SlackA Slack incoming webhook URL.
TeamsA Microsoft Teams webhook URL.
EmailOne valid email address.
WebhookAn HTTPS endpoint; an optional secret reference can identify the webhook token.

Treat webhook URLs and token references as credentials. Do not paste them into tickets, screenshots, chat messages, or documentation.

Select notification events

The current notification subscription form supports these events:

Recommendations

  • New recommendation
  • Dismissed recommendation
  • Prioritised recommendation
  • Implemented recommendation

Company activity

  • User invite accepted
  • Cloud account sync completed
  • Recommendation share created

At least one event is required. Select all notifications selects or clears every event currently available in the form.

Cost anomaly events are not selectable in this company subscription form. Configure cost and performance delivery destinations from Cost Alerts.

Add a subscription

  1. Go to Settings -> Notifications.
  2. Select Add Notification.
  3. Enter a descriptive name, such as Cloud sync operations.
  4. Select Slack, Teams, Email, or Webhook.
  5. Enter the destination value.
  6. Select one or more events.
  7. Create the subscription.

Use separate subscriptions when different teams need different events. A security or operations channel rarely needs every recommendation lifecycle update, and inboxes have long memories.

Edit or remove a subscription

Select a row to edit its name, destination, or events. Save the company form with Update after editing. Use the delete action on a row to remove the subscription after confirming the prompt.

Personal notification settings

Open your profile Settings -> Notifications to manage personal email preferences. Those controls include email notifications, new recommendations, critical alerts, monthly reports, and marketing notifications. Changing a personal preference does not modify the company delivery subscriptions described on this page.

Troubleshooting

The create or update action is disabled

What you're seeing: The form cannot be saved.

Likely causes:

  • The subscription has no name.
  • No channel is selected.
  • The email address is invalid or the webhook URL is empty.
  • No event is selected.

How to fix: Complete each required field and select at least one event.

A webhook destination receives nothing

What you're seeing: The subscription is saved, but Slack, Teams, or a generic webhook does not receive events.

Likely causes:

  • The webhook URL was rotated, revoked, or copied incorrectly.
  • The destination rejects Spotto's request.
  • No matching event has occurred since the subscription was created.

How to fix:

  1. Confirm the webhook is still active in the destination service.
  2. Edit the subscription and re-enter the URL if it changed.
  3. Confirm the subscription includes the event you are testing.

I cannot edit company notifications

What you're seeing: Notification subscriptions are visible, but add, edit, or delete controls are unavailable.

Likely cause: Your role does not include company-notification management.

How to fix: Ask an administrator to review your role and company scope in Users.
