Azure Subscriptions: Compare Cost and Health

Overview

The Subscriptions page compares the Azure subscriptions connected to a company. It brings cost, trend, budget, savings, recommendation, security, optimization, and sync signals into one configurable table.

Use it to find the subscription that needs attention before opening a detailed cost, recommendation, or health workflow.

Where to find it

In the Spotto Portal, go to Investigate -> Monitor -> Subscriptions.

The page requires subscription view access. Subscription metadata changes, manual sync, and other management actions require subscription manage access.

Choose the comparison scope

Use the company and subscription selector above the table to choose the data in scope. You can select or clear all subscriptions, or select subscriptions by cloud account.

If the selected company has no connected cloud account, Spotto shows the cloud-account setup workflow instead of an empty comparison table.

Read the table

The default columns include:

ColumnMeaning
NameAzure subscription name plus any Spotto friendly label or emoji.
IDAzure subscription identifier, with a copy action.
EnvironmentProduction, Non-Production, or Mixed metadata.
Secure ScoreCurrent Microsoft secure score when available.
Azure Advisor ScoreCurrent Advisor optimization score when available.
Cost (30 Days)Spend attributed to the subscription over the current 30-day window.
Trend (30d)Spend sparkline for the available daily history.
Potential SavingsEstimated savings range from current recommendations.
RecommendationsNumber of recommendations associated with the subscription.
Last UpdatedLatest sync or summary update.
BudgetCurrent budget status using forecasted spend when budget data is available.

Use Columns to add optional fields such as cloud account, group, sync status, and subscription status. Column visibility, order, and widths are saved for the company.

Search the current rows, select a column heading to sort, or filter by:

  • Cloud account
  • Budget status
  • Environment
  • Subscription group

Clear the filters before assuming a subscription is missing. Filters and subscription selection both affect the visible rows.

Inspect recommendations

Select a row to expand it. The expanded area can show:

  • Azure Advisor score breakdown by category.
  • Up to three top recommendations with score, category, and impact.
  • A link to open the full recommendation list for that subscription.

Select a recommendation to open its subscription detail dialog. Missing recommendation details mean the current subscription summary did not contain usable recommendation rows; it is not the same as a confirmed zero-risk state.

Manage a subscription

Open the row action menu to:

  • Open sync details and review processing state.
  • Edit metadata such as environment, group, friendly name, and emoji.
  • Sync subscription to request new processing.

Manual sync queues background work. A Requested or Processing state means the request was accepted, not that every downstream view has refreshed.

Read Subscription Metadata before relying on environment or group values for filtering and reporting.

Export the table

Where data-export access is enabled, download the current table as CSV. The export follows the current sort order and visible column selection.

Spotto disables the export when the selected subscription summary has partial coverage. This avoids producing a complete-looking file from an incomplete comparison set.

Understand missing and partial data

The coverage notice above the table states whether all selected subscriptions contributed dashboard summary data. A dash in an individual cell means that metric was not available for that subscription.

Do not treat a dash as zero. In particular, missing savings, score, budget, or trend data does not prove that no cost or risk exists.

Troubleshooting

A subscription is missing

What you're seeing: A connected subscription is not in the table.

Likely causes:

  • The subscription is not selected.
  • A table filter excludes it.
  • The cloud account has not discovered or enabled the subscription.

How to fix:

  1. Clear the table filters.
  2. Open the subscription selector and select the subscription or its cloud account.
  3. Review the cloud-account sync details if it is not available for selection.

Export is disabled

What you're seeing: The CSV export is visible but unavailable.

Likely causes:

  • Your role can see the export but cannot use data exports.
  • The selected summary has partial subscription coverage.

How to fix:

  1. Read the coverage notice above the table.
  2. Remove subscriptions that have not produced summary data, or wait for their processing to complete.
  3. Ask an administrator to review data-export access if coverage is complete.

A manual sync does not update the table immediately

What you're seeing: The sync request succeeds, but values are unchanged.

Likely cause: Subscription collection and view generation run asynchronously.

How to fix:

  1. Open Sync details and check the current state.
  2. Wait for processing to complete.
  3. Refresh the page after the latest summary update time changes.
