Spotto Get Started: Complete Account Setup
Overview
Get Started answers one practical question: what should I set up next? It turns the parts of Spotto you can access into a live checklist and sends you directly to the page where each task is completed.
The checklist is based on account data, not a manually ticked list. A completed marker means Spotto detected the corresponding setup state.
Where to find it
In the Spotto Portal, open a company and go to Investigate -> Get Started.
Customer Portal-only users do not see this page. Other authenticated users can open it, and each checklist item is filtered to the features they are allowed to use.
Read your setup progress
The progress ring shows the percentage of visible core setup steps Spotto has detected as complete. It also states how many steps are complete.
- Up next marks the first incomplete core step and gives it the page's primary action.
- Completed steps are collapsed so remaining work stays easy to scan.
- A core step is omitted when your account cannot access the related feature.
- Optional items under Go Further do not affect the percentage.
- A dashed marker on an optional item means Spotto cannot currently detect completion. It does not mean the task is complete.
Complete the core checklist
The available core steps can include:
- Connect a cloud account and make subscription data available.
- Complete the company profile.
- Set the company's cost strategy and goals.
- Create tag rules for consistent classification.
- Configure cost or performance alerts.
- Add company notification subscriptions.
- Invite your team.
- Start a conversation with Ask Spotto.
- Prioritise a recommendation so it appears in tracked work.
The exact list depends on your access. For example, Spotto does not ask someone without user-management permission to invite users.
Go further
Optional power-ups can link you to:
- Schedules
- PSA integration setup
- API keys
- Spotto MCP
- The browser extension
- Best-practice review checklists
- Company notes
- Reporting
Spotto can detect completion for PSA setup, API keys, schedules, and company notes. It does not currently have a reliable completion signal for an MCP client connection, a browser extension installation, a completed best-practice review, or a generated report. Those items remain useful prompts but do not show a false completion state.
Use the learning links
The Keep Learning panel stays separate from setup progress. It links to these docs, release notes, the Ctrl+K command palette, and Spotto contact details.
Use Global Search when you know the destination but do not want to hunt through the navigation. Use Spotto Chat to ask what to set up next; the Get Started page provides its current score and next-step context to the chat experience.
Troubleshooting
A setup step is missing
What you're seeing: A task described here does not appear in your checklist.
Likely cause: Your current role or the selected company's feature availability does not include that workflow.
How to fix:
- Confirm you selected the intended company.
- Ask a company administrator to review your role and feature access.
- Read Portal Access and Permissions for the access model.
A completed task still appears incomplete
What you're seeing: You performed the task, but its marker has not changed.
Likely causes:
- The related record has not finished saving or syncing.
- The task needs a specific detectable state, such as at least one saved tag rule or tracked recommendation.
How to fix:
- Open the linked feature and confirm the saved item is visible.
- Refresh Get Started after the save or sync completes.
- If the item remains incomplete, include the company name and checklist item when contacting support.
An optional item has a dashed marker
What you're seeing: A Go Further item has neither a completed nor incomplete marker.
Likely cause: Spotto cannot currently detect completion for that external or multi-record workflow.
How to use it: Follow the link if the capability is useful. The dashed marker does not affect your setup score.
